B-WACS

B-WACS is the most accurate BWM (Bearing Wear Monitoring) System in the world, which is developed by HSD Engine Co., Ltd.
B-WACS detects the failure of the three major bearings of a large two stroke diesel engine before engine suffers from relevant damages.
The principle of B-WACS is to measure the change of BDC (Bottom Dead Center) level to detect any abnormal bearing condition during operation.

O-WACS is a WIO(Water in Oil) system for monitoring water contents in the lubricating oil, which is designed by HSD Engine Co., Ltd.

The pneumatic control system is to be in reliable condition for safe berthing and leaving. That’s why engine manufacturer recommend periodical maintenance every 5 years.

TECHNICAL SERVICE 06

UPGRADE KIT FOR ALPHA LUBRICATOR

Basically Alpha system has lubricating algorithm with load proportional control above 25% engine load and switch to rpm proportional control below 25% engine load, however there issued the over-lubricating at low load operation on MAN service letter, SL2011-544 as alpha system has a limit of revolution per injection and this reached to max. value prior to 25% engine load as illustrated Fig.1.
In this case, rpm proportional control is adopted at 35~40% engine load and causes the excessive lubricating at very low load, e.g. 10% engine load.

TECHNICAL SERVICE 09

ADVANCED MEASUTAL

Introduction

Measutal® is a powerful and precise digital crankshaft deflection gauge.

It is fitted between the crank webs, the engineer takes all readings from outside the engine through wireless communication, without the drawbacks of heat, oil drop, etc.

The instrument consists of a measuring unit and a display unit. The display unit displays the deflection data and transfers data to Computer.

However “small service” should be carried out 20 ~ 24,000hr, it is very difficult to do so for ship’s crew even open-up for shield cover.
Therefore every 5Y(Dry-dock), we recommend to carry out bellow works by HSD Engine or authorized engineer
*Also can be done as combination with ME maintenance during dry-dock.

The “large” Service can be avoided if recent torsional vibration measurements have been made, or by installing a Geislinger monitoring system (GMS).
